'Life hack' with salt claims to be best way to clear condensation on our windows

Condensation is something most households have to deal with as we head into the winter months, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.

Many of us are already beginning to notice water droplets all over our windows when we wake up in the morning as temperatures begin to drop outside.

Condensation occurs every winter and while it is mostly harmless, it can develop into mould which not only looks unsightly but can cause health issues too.

People have started sharing their tips for getting rid of condensation online and, as it turns out, the majority agrees a common item in your kitchen can get rid of the dampness for good.

One person was inundated with the same message when they asked Facebook group Cleaning Tips and Tricks for help with a condensation problem, as RSVP Live report.

They wrote: "Guys any recommendations for keeping condensation and damp at bay at this time of year? Especially on and above windows."

While some people advised purchasing a dehumidifier or wiping the water off every morning, the majority of people argued that all you need is salt.

Simply placing salt in a dish and putting it in front of the windowsill works a charm according to members of the group.

"Salt works wonders," one person wrote.

A second added: "Put a bowl of salt out, it absorbs the moisture."

A third wrote: "Salt in a dish on windowsill, cheap and it works."

A member who tested the method out commented: "Thank you ever so much who said to put a plate of salt on the windowsill for condensation. I was shocked. It really does work. No more wiping windows in the morning".

"Yes it does work. I don't have a condensation problem anymore", another person agreed.
