Coffee snob or not, this pastel-hued coffee maker from Lidl is sure to turn your head in the middle aisle. And why shouldn’t it? If the budget supermarket has proven anything, it’s its surprising ability to turn its hand to electricals and trends (we all remember the Lidl reformer pilates machine).
When it comes to the black stuff, I’m a pretty run-of-the-mill coffee drinker. I drink cappuccinos in the winter (mainly for the chocolate dust, if I’m being really honest), and iced americanos in summer – I like it strong, simple and drunk quickly on my morning commute.

Cute and compact, the Silvercrest Lidl coffee maker is sure to have shoppers – myself included, as it happens to match my kettle and toaster – storming the middle aisle. Arriving in supermarkets on 16 August, the coffee maker boasts a two-cup capacity and uses ground beans as opposed to pods. Plus, there’s a milk frother nozzle for all your frothy coffee needs. In pastel pink, green or classic black, it just so happens to look really sweet on the kitchen surface, too.

Swapping pastel green or pink for a bold yellow, the De’Longhi La Specialista Arte Truestart Edition is a lookalike for the Lidl option, but at almost £400 most expensive, it levels up its concept and design a whole lot (as you’d hope so) thanks to its 250g coffee bean capacity and fifteen grind settings.
“The bean-to-cup espresso machine is a numbers game with eight grinder settings, three temperature profiles and 15-bar pump pressure, meaning it promises enough pressure to create the perfect espresso,” our reviewer said. “Wannabe baristas may also be interested in the steam wand for creating all-important latte art for Instagram.”
