Lidl customers are being urged not to eat boxes of stuffed dates over salmonella contamination fears.

The supermarket chain has issued a recall notice through the Food Standards Agency and say the item should be returned to stores for a full refund.

The best before date on the affected boxes is 21/01/2022, and the batch code is 21301/196. No other dates or batch codes have been recalled.

As reported by Wales Online, the notice said: "Lidl GB is recalling Deluxe Stuffed Dates 240g due to the potential presence of Salmonella.

"Salmonella can trigger severe gastrointestinal symptoms. If you have bought the above mentioned product we advise you not to eat it.

"Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt."

Lidl said: "No other Deluxe products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recalI.

"Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
