Lidl tries major new system to let you skip all the queues

Budget supermarket chain Lidl is trying a new system that lets everyone skip all the queues - both to get into the store and at the tills.

The German retailer is currently testing the system with its sister company Kaufland at a number of sites in Poland.

If successful the method is likely to be rolled out across the UK.

Lidl is now testing a new click and collect system - familiar to shoppers at some of the major retail brands but completely new in the budget sector.

According to chargedretail customers order online, the groceries are picked from the shelves and packed by Lidl employees and you collect at an agreed time.

Lidl had planned to trial the system in Germany before switching to Poland and says it will be rolled out further if it works and proves popular.

Lidl is rolling out a number of digital initiatives - including lockers at 24 stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester where customers can collect parcels they order online from other retailers.
