Lidl to create 600 jobs in Scotland with opening of largest UK warehouse

Supermarket Lidl will create 600 jobs when it opens its largest UK warehouse in Scotland.

The £70million centre will be based at the massive Eurocentral site near Motherwell.

With the potential for another 250 jobs, the base will supply Lidl’s 97 stores in Scotland.

Lidl confirmed it will be operational by November on a visit by a delegation including Neil Gray, MP for Airdrie and Shotts and Central Scotland MSP Graham Simpson.

Ross Millar, Lidl’s Scotland regional director said: “Investment in this warehouse underlines our long-term commitment to Scotland.

“It will help to ensure Lidl stores from Kirkwall to Stranraer are always stocked with our fresh, locally-sourced, high-quality products.”

Lidl opened its first store in Scotland in 1994 and has grown to employ more than 2200 people in the region.
