Lidl store planned for Long Eaton is recommended for refusal

Plans for a new major, budget supermarket to be built in Long Eaton could be refused.

Lidl released multi-million pound plans in October last year to open a new store which it said could create up to 40 jobs.

The store would occupy disused land in Nottingham Road, Long Eaton next to Kwik Fit and it would become the fourth major supermarket in the town.

However, the application has been recommended for refusal by planning inspectors.

The final decision for whether it is approved falls with Erewash Borough councillors on the planning committee who are due to discuss the application on Wednesday, October 23.

According to Lidl, the new store would include an in-house bakery, customer toilets and there would be 194 parking spaces for cars and bikes provided.

Lidl have been approached for comment on the recommendation for refusal.
