Lidl's sell-out churros are coming back this week - but you'll need to be quick

It might be Monday, but there's plenty of positives on the horizon this week, most notably: cheap churros.

Discount supermarket Lidl has just announced that it's bringing back its best-selling churros this week, netting you 500g of the glorious sugar-coated Spanish treat for just £1.19.

Made using choux pastry, the traditional Spanish treat tastes a bit like a doughnut, but in a long, crunchy shell meaning you get more of the good outer layer, and less of the puffy filling.

Coming pre-cooked for you to just pop into the oven, the churros will hit Lidl stores all across the nation from this Thursday (8 August), but will only be there while stocks last.

The famous churros flew off the shelves in record speed when they were first released this time last year, although they did used to be 20p cheaper, setting you back just 99p for the same 500g bag.

Elsewhere in supermarkets, you can get 12 chocolate filled ones in Tesco for £2 , a pack of Brindisa ones for £2.75 on Ocado, or 20 pieces for £8 on M&S.

But churros aren't the only Iberian delicacy hitting Lidl stores this week, with the German retailer launching Spanish week in stores this Thursday 8th August - a celebration of all things España tjat gives Brits the chance to create tasty tapas in their very own casa.

The churros will be joined by 1.1kg of air dried ham complete with knife and cutting board for £14.99, plus a Spanish cheese board and Spanish tapas meat platter, both £1.99, plus a Gazpacho for £1.49.

If you're planning a big tapas spread, there's also battered squid rings for £1.99 for a 500g bag, patatas bravas at 99p for a 600g bag, and salsa brava to accompany the potato dish for £1.29.

No pintxos platter would be complete without Spanish omelette, which Lidl is selling in a choice of three variants; bacon, onion, red and green peppers, spinach or chorizo for £1.99 each, which would also make the perfect al-desko lunch, if you're not feeling up to the full tapas extravaganza.
