Lidl are the latest retailer to get involved in the countdown to the festive season by revealing their hotly anticipated Christmas advert.
The popular supermarket launched their Christmas advert on Twitter this morning, which will also air on TV later this evening, and it is giving shoppers a look into what Christmas could look like in the future.
The advert has a more tongue-in-cheek tone compared to other adverts, and it focuses on the retailers commitment to delivering "big on quality" and always "Lidl on prices" when it comes to their food.
Beginning in present day, the advert focuses on a family celebrating a traditional Christmas feast that showcases Lidl's brilliant new festive food range, before being transported to different decades in the future.
The story in each segment is the same, as the family tucks into Christmas dinner, but there are a few futuristic tweaks.
One scene set decades in the future complete with a cutting edge turkey-carving laser and the news that some family members have moved to the Moon!

The next scene transports the family even further into the future and sports quirky features such as talking dogs, levitating plates and cameras controlled by eyes!
While the time period changes in each segment, one thing remains the same - the same family still enjoying Lidl’s famed festive fare at ‘Lidl’ prices.
In line with Lidl’s famous sense of humour, the advert outlines that even when ‘we’re carving turkeys with lasers, we’ll always be Lidl on price’, demonstrating its commitment to quality and value no matter what the future looks like and its mission to always give shoppers a Christmas they can believe in.

The advert also features Lidl's show-stopping Christmas food range that is available in stores, including Deluxe Pigs in Blankets, Crémant de Loire, new for this year Vegan Garland, and a full festive spread with a free-range British turkey.
Viewers are also treated to a preview of Lidl’s new 2021 Christmas jumper (and what it might look like in years to come), worn by one of the characters throughout the advert.
Claire Farrant, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, said: “After a challenging couple of years, the nation wants to look forward not back, which is why we’ve set our light-hearted ad decades in the future.
This is a food retailer first at Christmas and we feel Lidl is best placed to take our customers there!
Given our commitment to always be Big on quality, Lidl on price this year we wanted our Christmas advert to show that we really do mean always, no matter what the future has in store for us!”
Lidl's futuristic Christmas advert will air on TV this evening during Coronation Street - so, keep your eyes peeled!
