Lidl offers a taste of the taverna with new Greek inspired range including octopus for £1.99

Lidl is bringing two much-loved dishes together this week as part of its limited edition Greek range.

The scrumptious new collection of Mediterranean food is available in stores now and includes a Stonebaked Gyros Pizza for just £1.99.

The budget supermarket describes the pizza as having a crisp, yet doughy base, topped with a rich tomato sauce, seasoned pork, onions and chilli for a fusion taste sensation which is great for a treat dinner or weekend fake-away.

For anyone looking for a drink to pair a Greek inspired meal with, Lidl is also selling Retsina (£3.79 for 50cl) - a unique Greek white wine. The wine is infused with the resin from pine trees, giving it a distinctive taste boasting hints of lemon and pine.

The traditional wine is made in Greece and has been around for over 2,000 years, using largely the same production method throughout. The unforgettable flavour is perfect paired with Greek dishes, from meat and seafood to salads and starters. 

Lager fans will also be pleased to know that Lidl’s Greek inspired week also features fan favourite Mythos Beer (£4.69 for six 330ml bottles), brilliantly light and refreshing and perfect to be enjoyed, whatever the weather.
