Lidl is selling gigantic blocks of cheddar cheese for an insanely cheap price

You may have woken up thinking it was just another normal Wednesday, but today is in fact, a historic day for cheese lovers.

As Lidl have just announced that it is about to start selling a huge 830g block of cheese for £2.39.

And it's not just any old cheap stuff, with the big chunk of cheese made from strong and piquant British extra mature cheddar, with the highest 5 strength rating, according to the label.

Usually £3.99, the supersized cheddar is hitting Lidl stores nationwide this weekend (10th and 11th August), but the hugely discounted price will only be available for a limited time.

At Tesco, the same 820g amount of extra mature cheddar cheese will cost you £5.84, although the packs are sold in 220g packs for £1.55 each, so you'll need to spend £6.20 to cover the same quantity.

At Asda, it's 3p cheaper, costing you £5.81 for 830g of extra mature cheddar, although once again you'd need to pick up four 200g packs to cover the 830g mark, setting you back £7 in total.

Users of HotUKDeals posted a photo of this week's Lidl magazine, where news of the cheese was hidden amongst the rest of the supermarket's bargainous weekend discounts.

Alongside the cheese, the affordable German retailer will also be selling super cheap bin bags for 99p (rather than their usual £1.99), a bottle of South African Chenin Blanc for a tiny £3.49 (normally £4.79), and some W5 kitchen and bathroom unblocker for 99p, instead of £1.69.
