Lidl is now selling street food - and prices start at £1.69

Just in case you needed yet another reason to love Lidl , the famously affordable German supermarket has now announced that it's launching its very own street food range.

Called 'My Street Food', Lidl's latest range features iconic street food dishes inspired by cuisines all around the world, including delicacies from Italy, Asia and of course, America, that we're much more accustomed to seeing in various pop-ups, rather than on supermarket shelves.

In Lidl stores already, prices start at £1.69, with the lowest price point netting you either a 400g bag of chicken and pork gyoza dumplings or a 300g bag of Italian-style arancini, filled with bolognese style filling.

For 30p more, you can get mini Sicilian Cannoli, tempura vegetables or chilli cheese loaded fries, at £1.99 a bag.

At the top end of the scale, you can still expect to pay impressively low prices for the likes of provolone, salami and ricotta calzone or courgette flowers with mozarella and anchovy filling for £2.49.

But the creme de la creme of the new street food range is surely Lidl's new prawn skewers in crispy coconut coating, which will set you back £3.99 a pack.

The prices are a stark contrast to the standard street food stands you see popping up around the UK, where meals cost anything from £5 to £15.

Elsewhere in supermarkets, you can still get Itsu gyoza for £3 per 240g bag , whilst Morrisons sell an oven dish of spicy chilli cheese fries for £2, although no supermarket is yet to launch their own, specialised street food range like Lidl's, as far as we know.
