Lidl Ireland may be one of the most popular retailers in the country, but the German discount store is also quite savvy when it comes to social media.
The Twitter page for the popular shop is known for engaging with followers along with some posting some great humour that often has social media users talking.
And their latest is stunt is no different after they made a jab at social media sites themselves this time around.
Twitter recently announced it would be releasing its latest function entitled 'Fleets' which is similar to the stories function seen on the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Snap Chat.
As the news emerged, the savvy social media gurus behind the Lidl accounts took the opportunity to joke that they had also in fact introduced stories - to their trolleys.
They even shared a photo of what the feature might look like for people who head in for their usually shopping run with the simple caption: "Trolley stories are finally here."
On top of that the fake accounts which were on display also had some absolutely hilarious Lidl theme names including LiveLaughLidl, lidlismylife, lidlforever and livelaughlidl.
Naturally the joke had people in stitches at the prospect of Lidl launching their own version of the feature.
One wrote: "LiveLaughLidl has me in a heap. Thank you for the giggle."
Another added: "I'm honestly tempted to change my Insta name to livelaughlidl"
And a third said: I want to work on the @lidl_ireland social media team just for a week so I can post content like this... I’d never get away with it in the house!"
