Lidl has confirmed its hugely popular Hanging Garden Egg Chair has been delayed in "selected stores".
The retailer addressed dozens of queries on social media asking for updates on the product's availability.
Some customers had been queuing from as early as 5.30am at Irish shops to get their hands on the chair.
And it provoked a stir on social media, as thousands shared their experience of trying to get their hands on the elusive furniture.
The garden accessory was due to go on sale today in stores across the country for €219.99.
However the supermarket giant said that it had been "delayed" in some areas.
But they explained that, as this is the first day of sale, detailed stock information currently isn't available.
Therefore customers are asked to visit their local shop to check whether the chair is still on sale.
A Lidl spokesman said: "Our Hanging Garden Chair has been delayed in selected stores.
"Unfortunately we can’t check stock on the first day of sale and to check for availability you must visit your local store."
