Lidl has new clothing range and in-demand £12.99 trainers are selling for £50 on eBay

They're not to everyone's taste, but these colourful trainers from Lidl are selling like fast.

News broke earlier this month that the supermarket giant would be launching its own clothing line, but no one could have predicted its success.

The coveted shoes hit shelves last year, but only in certain countries, and it was not until recently that UK customers could nab a pair, Nottingham Live reports.

New search figures from Love the Sales have shown the trainers to be in high demand, even outdoing some of the most popular designer trainer releases.

When fashion heavyweight Balenciaga dropped its Triple S trainers in 2017, around 110,000 shoppers were searching for the shoes online, while the Yeezy Boost 700 was looked for 33,100 times, Liverpool Echo reports.

Now, Lidl's £12.99 trainers have racked up 135,000 searches since shoppers heard they were coming, exceeding demand for both of the designer brands' shoes.

And since their release, they are now being sold in vast quantities on sites such as eBay - some for £50 each in Nottingham.

That is nearly quadruple the in-store recommended price of £12.99.

The Lidl by Lidl clothing line dropped on Thursday (September 18), offering socks, swim shorts, and a foldable shopping tote bag emblazoned with the store's logo.
