Lidl customers could soon order their food shop online with home delivery service

Lidl looks set to roll out a home delivery service meaning its customers will be able to shop its bargains from the comfort of their own home.

Currently, it is only Italy which benefits from a delivery service from the German retailer but there are now signs things are changing.

The budget supermarket has started recruiting or a new "digital project manager" reports MirrorOnline.

According to the job description it says the person who takes up the new position will "identify new business opportunities to drive revenue" as well as "contribute not only to individual projects but also to the ongoing formation and success of other functional areas".

The ad also says: "You will be instrumental in helping to deliver a new online platform with the aim of acquiring new customers and driving online sales."

It's not the only sign that Lidl is looking into home deliveries as bosses recently told The Grocer they were "actively exploring" the idea of launching online shopping.

It comes three years after rival Aldi opened its first UK online store - initially offering cases of wine only.

Since then, it's gone on to include a lot of its special buys, as well as homeware and leisure goods.
