Lidl customers are rushing to buy this perfect heatwave item

Scotland's heatwave isn't over yet, and Lidl have just released a product that may be the perfect thing people across the country need to cool down.

With temperatures in Glasgow as high as 27c in the last few days, the item couldn't have launched at a better time.

The supermarket announced the sale of the Silvercrest Ice Cream Maker on its Twitter account, and shoppers were quick to share their joy.

"I need this," one user said, as reported by Birmingham Live.

A second joked: "Might be tempted, but will still buy the Pretty Peanut Butter ice cream while I'm there!"

The ice cream machine costs just £20 and comes with a three year warranty.

The product, which according to the retailer will be available in stores across the country, also comes with six recipes - including one suitable for vegans.

Lidl is one of many UK supermarkets that has been affected by stock shortages and empty shelves across the country over the past couple of weeks.

With Scotland moving into a 'modified' level 0, and England ending legal restrictions altogether, there has been a surge of Covid-19 cases across the nation, which has contributed to a shortage of delivery drivers.

Supermarkets across Scotland have urged shoppers not to panic buy amid the shortages.
