Lidl announces opening date for new Nottingham store

A major supermarket coming to a Nottingham suburb has confirmed it will open in time for Christmas.

The new Lidl in Trowell Road in Wollaton, will open its doors for the first time on Thursday, December 10 at 8am.

The store replaces the former Waitrose and has undergone "extensive conversion and remodelling" for its new lease of life.

The new store, which will create around 40 new jobs in the community, will open between 8am - 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sunday.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Dominic Bryan, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Nottingham. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we are proud to serve the local community at this time.”

Customer donations and surplus food will be supplied to a number of charities including Broxtowe Community Projects Food & Nappy Bank and Hope Nottingham, both of whom aim to alleviate food poverty and social isolation in the local area.

Alongside the new store, tenants for four units have also been confirmed and are set to enter the next stage of development next month including a news agent, hairdressers, a charity shop and a carpet shop.
