Lidl and Walkers recall Christmas products due to safety fears

Urgent product recalls have been issued for Christmas items that pose danger to customers, including products from Walkers and Lidl.

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has advised customers who have purchased the items listed on their website to return them to stores immediately.

There are five Christmas products on the list of potentially harmful products on the Chartered Trading Standards Institute website.

Here are the Christmas products you need to be aware of.

Walkers

PepsiCo is recalling Walkers mince pie flavoured crisps because they contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label, posing a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

Pepsico has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

As well as this, the company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers explaining why the product is being recalled and telling them what to do if they have bought the product.

Monkfield Nutrition

Monkfield Nutrition is recalling their frozen mice products (for reptiles), as salmonella has been found in the products.

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products, which will explain to customers why the products are being recalled and instructing them on what to do if they have bought the products.

PMS Projector Torch With Six Assorted Lenses

The torch is stocked at online retailers such as Amazon, however - customers are urging buyers to return it as it presents a serious risk of burns as the batteries may short circuit when in use.

The product may therefore overheat and present a hazard to young consumers who hold the toy for an extended period.

As a result, The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Fidget Toy Advent Calendar

The Christmas advent calendar has been urgently recalled and pulled from the market as it poses a serious chemical risk as one of the fidget toys (the peanut shell) contains an excess concentration of phthalates - a group of chemicals used to make plastics more durable.

This can potentially harm a child's health either via cancer or non-cancer effects meaning the product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008.

Lidl

Lidl is recalling their Deluxe stuffed dates after the food standards agency have warned that salmonella has been found in the product.

Customers are being encouraged to return the product to the store where they will receive a full refund.
