Two supermarkets have issued food recall notices after products were found to contain pieces of glass or plastic, making them unsafe to eat.
The Co-op and Lidl have recalled a number of products including carrot cake, coffee and walnut cake and breakfast cereal, urging customers who may have purchased the products to return them to the store for a full refund.
The recall notices, issued through the Food Standards Agency (FSA), warn that the “products may contain pieces of glass which presents a safety risk”.
The Co-op is asking customers to return two cake products from its ‘Irresistible range’ - Carrot Cake and Coffee and Walnut Cake while Lidl has recalled Crownfield Wholegrain Wheat Bixies, 36 pack.

In a statement, the Co-op said: “ If you have bought these products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.

Lidl
Crownfield Wholegrain Wheat Bixies, 36 pack (720g)
Affected dates: Best before 10 January 2022, 11 January 2022 and 12 January 2022
“If you have bought this product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund,” a statement issued by Lidl advised customers.
