Lidl and Aldi offers: Best garden products coming to Irish supermarkets this week

Many people across Ireland have been using their free time during lockdown to touch up their gardens.

Due to restrictions on leaving your home and the recent spells of good weather, people are spending more time than ever out planting or rearranging their lawns.

Garden and furniture centres won't open back up until May 18, when the first phase of Ireland's reopening will kick in.

But eager DIYers don't have to wait until then to add to their surroundings as Aldi and Lidl have an array of furniture, outdoor lights, hanging baskets and plants coming to its Irish supermarkets this week.

Aldi has a Contemporary Garden Coffee Set going on sale on Sunday, May 17 - however, there is no price for this product as of yet.

It also has a wooden bench, sun shades and parasols coming to a selected number of its 142 stores nationwide.

The retailer also has a range of outdoor lights going on sale this week, with prices ranging from €3 to €18.

On Thursday, May 14, a number of sanders, file sets, saw sets, drill sets and work gloves will also be in store.

And for those looking to add colour to their gardens, Lidl is launching a range of plants starting at €2.

To find more products and the stores which they will be on offer, go to Aldi and Lidl's respective websites.

Meanwhile, Lidl recently announced good news for those isolating or cocooning by launching a new scheme that will allow at-risk customers to purchase a gift card worth up to €200 which can be used by volunteers in store.

The vouchers can be bought by contacting supermarket's dedicated team over the phone who will email the Lidl Community Gift Card to the customer.

The gift card can then be given to a family member or friend who can use it in store.

Lidl spokeswoman Aoife Clarke said: "The past couple of months have been a whirlwind for everyone but we are delighted to have been able to support our communities throughout this challenging time.

"Our teams have been working diligently to make shopping trips as safe as possible for both our customers and our valiant store teams and we are thrilled to further those efforts with the launch our Lidl Community Gift Cards which offer at-risk customers a remote payment solution."
