Lidl, Aldi, Iceland issue product recall warnings for chicken, milk and other products

Some major supermarkets have issued urgent product recalls on a number of items due to safety concerns.

The Food Standards Agency have issued warnings across several big chains, with milk and chicken included in the product recall notices.

It said some of the products contain ingredients that are not mentioned on the label, while others could contain harmful bacteria such as salmonella.

When a product is recalled, for any reason, the Food Standards Agency shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, as well as detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

It said anyone with any of the below items should visit their nearest supermarket for a full refund or exchange.

Aldi

Aldi have issued an urgent product recal l after there was a possibility some of their chicken products have been infected with salmonella.

The budget supermarket is recalling Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin' Chicken because the products may contain salmonella.

If you have bought any of the products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

Aldi said: "Customers are advised not to eat this product and return it to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and thankyou for your co-operation."

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's is recalling its semi-skimmed UHT milk because of possible microbiological contamination.

The supermarket said it has taken the precautionary step as the product could be unsafe to consume.

Lidl

Lidl is recalling packs of Cologran Stevia sweetener tablets because the latest batch contains a product called 'aspartame, (E951)' which is not labelled on the product.

The grocer said there are concerns that the item could pose a possible health risk to sufferers of phenylketonuria.

Co-op is recalling 18 Chocolate Caramel Shortcake Bites. (Co-op)

The Co-op is recalling its packs of 18 Chocolate Caramel Shortcake Bites.

This is because some packs may contain barley - an ingredient not mentioned on the label.

Iceland

Chip Shop Curry Chicken Breast Toppers and Southern Fried Chicken Popsters (CTSI)

Earlier this month, Iceland recalled two of its own brand chicken products after discovering they contained traces of salmonella.

Customers have been asked to return its Chip Shop Curry Chicken Breast Toppers and Southern Fried Chicken Popsters to stores.

Salmonella can result in symptoms including fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps if consumed.

The affected Curry Chicken Breast Toppers were the 400g packs with best before dates of February 27, 2021, March 17, 2021 and April 8, 2021.

The Southern Fried Chicken Popsters affected were sold in 220g packs with a best before date of April 4, 2021.

Waitrose

Waitrose is recalling their Easy to Cook Pork and Chorizo Burgers because they contain egg which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

Waitrose is also recalling its Slow Cooked Beef and Ale Pie because it contains hazelnuts and milk which are not mentioned on the label.

The product could pose a health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts (hazelnuts) and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
