Representatives from the Libyan High Council of State and east-based parliament continued on Saturday the second round of talks at Morocco’s Bouznika resort town.
Discussions focused on the standards that determine the appointment to sovereign positions. No further details were provided.
The delegations had kicked off the second round of dialogue on Friday, nearly a month after concluding the first series of meetings.
The parties had reached a comprehensive agreement on the standards and transparent mechanisms to assume sovereign positions with the aim of eventually uniting them.
Notably, neither head of the High Council of State, Khalid al-Mishri, and parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh are attending the new round of Bouznika talks. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita also did not attend the opening of the second round of discussions.
The latest talks follow military UN-sponsored preliminary discussions late last month at Egypt’s resort town of Hurghada between the Libyan National Army and Government of National Accord.
The meeting was aimed at paving the way for the resumption of the Geneva dialogue between the warring parties as part of the 5+5 Libyan Joint Military Commission.
