Libya opened its largest Covid-19 vaccination center in the capital Tripoli, in an effort to speed up inoculations and contain the rising number of infections.
Established in the gymnasium of the City sports venue in Tripoli, the vaccination center is now open to everyone without previous appointment, according to Rawad Behelille, doctor and manager of the center.
"The vaccination center is considered the largest in the country," he noted, saying that the center can receive between 2,000 to 3,000 people on daily basis.
Libyan health authorities said on Wednesday that 788,116 people received the COVID vaccine so far.
The country officially recorded a total of 274,453 infections, including 3,811 deaths, since the beginning of the pandemic.
