A Tasmanian state election candidate has been disciplined by Labor after it emerged he photographed himself with a mobile phone between his buttocks.
Darren Clark, who is contesting the regional seat of Lyons in next month's election, was reprimanded by the party over a crude photo taken several years ago where he reportedly posed with another persons mobile phone held between the cheeks of his bottom.
At the time Mr Clark, who currently works for federal Lyons MP Brian Mitchell, was working for a local Police and Citizens Youth Club.
Liberal MP Michael Ferguson described the Labor candidate's actions as "disgusting" and said Opposition Leader Rebecca White had significant questions to answer about her chosen candidate.
"Mr Clark was the CEO of the PCYC working with at-risk young people and has been involved in some lewd, crude and disgusting behaviour," Mr Ferguson said.
"Until yesterday I understand they had been denied by Mr Clark, he's finally now been exposed for that."
Mr Ferguson said the Labor leader needed to condemn Mr Clark's actions.
"This email was sent from the official account to a number of people and we understand that possibly included a number of women as well," he said.
"What this revelation has exposed is the fact that Labor don't have a strong team — there are cracks appearing."
Labor leader condemns Clark's 'inappropriate behaviour'
Ms White said it was very disappointing and Mr Clark had been very heavily reprimanded.
"He's not been disendorsed as a candidate and will still run," Ms White said.
"He understands that it's inappropriate behaviour and we won't accept it."
Ms White said Mr Clark had apologised.
