LiAngelo Ball says three teams showed interest in him for NBA Summer League

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard from the middle Ball brother, LiAngelo Ball.

In June, his father, LaVar Ball, announced that LiAngelo wouldn’t be playing in the NBA’s summer league because LiAngelo had to have surgery on his ankle to repair damaged ligaments. Since then, he’s had the surgery—and seems to be recovering well—but there were serious doubts as to whether or not LiAngelo would asked to play in summer league even when he was healthy.

The 20-year-old went undrafted in 2018 and wasn’t signed as a free agent by an NBA team—or one of their G League affiliates—despite the fact that he made it known he wanted to play in the G League last season. Considering he hasn’t played organized basketball since then, it’s hard to believe much has changed.

However, in the “Ball In the Family” season five trailer, LiAngelo said that three NBA teams showed interest in him to play in summer league this past summer:

“They said three teams is looking for me for summer league,” LiAngelo said. “Stuff is starting to fall into place and it feels good.”

The biggest question is, then: What’s changed since last year?

Truthfully, that’s hard to tell because no one has seen LiAngelo play outside of a 24 Hour Fitness in over a year and when he did play, it was in his father’s Junior Basketball Association. Apparently, though, it was enough for him to get a call from a handful of NBA teams.
