Liam Williams set to play for the first time in seven months after being released by Wales

Liam Williams is set to play for the Scarlets this weekend after being released by Wales to get game time.

The mercurial outside back has played just one game in the last 12 months, against England in March, after he suffered a tournament-ending serious ankle injury at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

More recently, he has been battling foot trouble but will be available for the Scarlets' game against Benetton on Friday night.

Another outside back, Jonah Holmes, has been released from the squad to play for the Dragons against Ulster on Sunday.

It means both players will miss Saturday's France v Wales clash but will return to camp on Monday morning.

Wayne Pivac now has five back three players available to him in George North, Josh Adams, Leigh Halfpenny, Louis Rees-Zammit and Ioan Lloyd.

However, Bristol full-back Lloyd was only released to Wales today after a decision was reach on the Gallagher Premiership final, with his club now not involved.
