Liam Williams reveals the moment a Wales team-mate threatened to knock him out on the field

Liam Williams has revealed the moment a Wales team mate threatened to knock him out during a Test match.

In an interview with Rugby World magazine, the Saracens full-back recalled being on international duty in Japan in 2013, the same summer the Lions were in Australia.

Wales played a two-match series against the Japanese and it ended 1-1 after the tourists were beaten 23-8 in a second Test played in blistering Tokyo heat.

And it was during that unfortunate encounter that tempers boiled over as Wales players' frustrations increased with every passing minute.

"Bradley Davies told me he was going to knock me out on the field," said Williams.

"It was just in the heat of the moment and I burst out laughing."

Williams is not anticipating a repeat when Wales pitch up in the country in September for the World Cup.

And he stressed it is a culture and environment that very much agrees with him.

He added: "I loved Japan. Everything about it. It's beautiful, the people are amazing, the little streets you go down. And I love Japanese food."

Wales are currently in Switzerland preparing for their assault on the world crown. Williams is quietly confident about their prospects.

"I think we've got a great chance," he said. "But it only takes one terrible game and you're out."
