Liam Sutcliffe provides injury latest as Leeds Rhinos star closes in on return

Liam Sutcliffe's road to recovery has stepped up a notch after he posted an update on his injury.

The Leeds Rhinos star is recovering from microfracture surgery, which saw him miss the end of last season.

Sutcliffe is expected to be back in contention for the start of the Super League season and his rehabilitation appears to be going to plan, with the star revealing he is now running for the first time in four months.

Posting on Instagram, Sutcliffe is using an Alter-G treadmill, which uses technology to reduce body weight and subsequently help people returning to running with less pressure on the body.

It's the latest step for Sutcliffe, who made 13 Super League appearances for the Rhinos last season.

Everyone else is thought to be fully fit in the Rhinos camp at present, allowing Richard Agar and the coaching staff to get to grips with the squad during the opening weeks of pre-season.

Sutcliffe, meanwhile, is set to wear the number four jersey at Leeds next season, highlighting Leeds' plan to use him regularly as a centre after years of being moved into different positions.
