Liam Smith takes out Chris Eubank Jr with stunning KO to upset the odds in Manchester fight

Liam Smith won via an unlikely stoppage against Chris Eubank Jr in Manchester on Saturday night, securing a fourth round TKO at the AO Arena.

The fight was expected to be a tough ask for Smith, with the Liverpool born fighter stepping up to middleweight for the fight against Eubank who was expected to be more comfortable. They both weighed in at 11st 5lbs, with a fiery build-up as personal insults were exchanged.

However, the manner of victory with an incredible knockout from Smith brought the Manchester crowd to its feet, with many of the crowd having travelled from Liverpool for the fight. It was a fourth round stoppage from Smith, with the whole fight having been dominated by Smith as Eubank never really got going.

It was expected to be a well matched fight, with both fighters both having held world titles in the past. However, it was smith who came out on the front foot, with Beefy taking the fight to Eubank in the opening rounds of the fight as his fervent support filled the AO Arena with noise.

Eubank rallied at the end of the third round and looked to be growing into the contest at that stage but the next round was when the fight was decided. Smith came out with the same energy he'd had in the first couple of rounds of the fight.

He managed to floor Eubank with a big right hand before following with his left to leave his opponent on the canvas. However, Eubank would not go down without a fight and came back swinging but his defence was non existent as he returned to his feet and Smith easily felled him a second time leaving the referee to stop the contest.

The fighters embraced after what had been a fiery week of media activities, but it was Smith who emerged victorious and will look to continue to make a name for himself in his step up to the middleweight division.
