A statement confirmed: " Kilmarnock Football Club can confirm we have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of Liam Smith.

Killie had tried hard to convince the talented youngster to stay but in the end the lure of working under Pep Guardiola's coaching staff proved too much.

Head of football operations James Fowler said: "While we had hoped to see Liam continue his development at Rugby Park and are disappointed to be losing him, we fully understand and appreciate the opportunities moving to Manchester City will provide Liam both on and off the pitch.
