Liam Smith has his eyes on big Liverpool prize after Chris Eubank Jr fight

Liam Smith says he is confident that he'll beat Chris Eubank Jr and then get what he deserves in the rematch.

Eubank and Smith will meet in an all-British middleweight grudge match on Saturday night at the AO Arena in front of a sold-out crowd. However, should 'Beefy' prevail from the bout, then he will face Eubank again in the summer as a rematch clause has been included in the contract.

But that rematch clause only kicks in if it is Smith who comes out on top. The ECHO understands BOXXER is confident the rematch can be held at Anfield. Smith, however, is refusing to get carried away at the prospect of headlining at Anfield as he knows his dream is over if he doesn't win on Saturday night.

“I will get the rematch money I deserve. I will get the money Chris Eubank is getting. I will be the A-side in the rematch,” he told the ECHO.

“But the rematch clause is put in for a reason. If they are that confident that I am an easy fight, why was there a delay in the rematch clause?

“There wasn’t a rematch clause in the Conor Benn fight. Same people did the deal, but all that is dead in the water to me if I don’t win.

“So if I don’t win, I am not fighting at Anfield. There is no rematch if he wins. Everything's on me winning and I am 100% confident in doing that.”

Eubank was supposed to fight Benn in a non-title catchweight clash between the sons of two of Britain's most famous boxers in one of the biggest fights in the United Kingdom last year.

However, Benn tested positive for the female fertility drug clomiphene, which forced the fight to be cancelled just two days before it was scheduled on October 8.

But earlier this month the 26-year-old declared on social media that: "My team have proven my innocence and the truth will soon come out."

Smith, however, believes the time has come for boxers to be drug tested more as not enough is being done by the authorities.

“Not just for this. For our sport in general it should be done properly anyway,” he told the ECHO.

“It is a tough one because there are not enough drug inspectors and people in the sport to do everybody, but we all should be tested and tested more than we are tested.

“If I am being brutally honest with you I get tested a lot. But I have also spoken with fighters, who say I haven’t been drug tested. We all need drug testing more.

“For the sport we are in and how dangerous this sport is we should be drug tested more than we are. But I understand there are not enough drug testers to do that.”
