Liam Shaw sent Celtic warning as former boss questions playing time chances

Tony Pulis has warned Liam Shaw over his potential playing time at Celtic next season after signing a pre-contract with the club.

The former Sheffield Wednesday boss is a huge fan of Shaw and believes he can be a great signing for Celtic, particularly getting him so cheap.

Celtic will pay a development fee for the midfielder, who can also play at centre back, and Pulis just hopes that the new manager at Celtic Park gives him a chance.

Eddie Howe is the favourite for the job and Pulis believes whoever comes in will strengthen in the middle of the park and that makes him wary over whether Shaw will play.

He told the Athletic: "The big thing with him, more than anything, is obviously experience and games. I personally think that for what they’re paying it’s a great signing for the football club.

"It’s just where Celtic go now, whether they’ll go and strengthen in that area with the new manager, and what that might mean for Shaw’s opportunities next season."

Most Celtic fans won't have seen much of Shaw but Pulis insists he'll be a big player as he explained what he offers

He said: “He can play in various positions, very versatile — he’s good in that respect.

“Technically, for being such a big lad, he is a very good passer of the ball. Just a great person, with a fabulous attitude towards wanting to learn and work."
