Liam Scales 'set for' Celtic medical after making final Shamrock Rovers appearance against Flora Tallinn

Liam Scales is set to undergo his Celtic medical tomorrow after making his Shamrock Rovers bow this evening.

The Irish Examiner reports that the centre back will make his final appearance for the club against FC Flora Tallinn this evening.

He’ll then fly into Glasgow to complete his switch to Celtic Park, with the Hoops understood to be shelling out just over £500,000 for the 23-year-old.

That could rise depending on how Scales and Celtic perform.

Personal terms have yet to be agreed but talks are due to take place on Friday.

Should Ange Postecoglou ’s team get the job done against AZ Alkmaar tonight and qualify for the Europa League group stages, then Scales would be eligible to be added to the squad for those fixtures.

Scales, who is on the standby list for the Irish national squad, has played for Rovers in the Champions League and Europa Conference League qualifiers already this season.

There was interest from England in the defender, including from the Premeier League, but barring any late hitches with the deal, Celtic have won the race to secure his services.

Carl Starfelt and Stephen Welsh have been the regular central defensive pairing for Celtic so far this season and Scales will provide more competition alongside Nir Bitton.

Youngster Dale Murray has had to step up on occasion with Postecoglou short in that area when the season kicked off.
