Liam Payne allegedly descended into a spiral of drink and drugs in his final hours, according to sex workers who spent time with the One Direction star.
Payne was just 31 when he fell to his death from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16, 2024.
Escorts Aldana Serrano and Lucila Goitea provided sworn statements to investigators, giving details of the singer's last day, The Mail on Sunday reports.
The documents provide some insight into the circumstances leading up to Payne's death, with the pair claiming the singer behaved erratically.
According to the duo, they were hired by Payne to have sex with him at CasaSur Palermo Hotel on the last morning before he died.
Afterwards, they say the performer became flustered at being unable to pay the agreed fee of $5,000 (£3,700) as he had no cash, despite being worth £21 million.
The women say he then offered them his £30,000 gold Rolex watch, which he later smashed and boasted he could "have ten of those" before punching the hotel TV three times.
He is then said to have pleaded on his knees for the women to stay, telling them that money didn't make him happy.
The pair describe Liam drunkenly performing his own songs in front of them and asking for cocaine.
One of the women said: "We told him we only wanted money so he took [the watch] and smashed it. He told us he didn’t care about the money.
"And then he broke the TV, he punched it. He made us understand that he could smash everything because he knew he could pay for it."
The women left the hotel and told hotel workers about Payne's erratic actions. They say they returned at 4pm to collect some belongings they left behind and he apologised for his behaviour.
The singer later fell to his death at around 5.07pm.
Toxicology results from his body revealed he had cocaine, alcohol and the strong sedative Klonopin in his system at the time of his fall.
Hotel worker Ezequiel Pereyra, 22, and waiter Braian Paiz, 26, were both charged with supplying the drugs and are scheduled to stand trial.
The pair deny the charges and have been bailed after spending months in prison.
Payne arrived in the Buenos Aires 16 days before his death while waiting for the renewal of his US visa.
He was said to be sober for the first two weeks of the trip, which were spent with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 27, and Argentine businessman Rogelio 'Roger' Nores, 38.
But his behaviour is believed to have drastically deteriorated after Kate went to Miami on October 14 and Roger also left.
He was said to have trashed his room at the exclusive five-star Park Hyatt hotel and drunkenly ranted at staff when being asked to leave, before checking into the four-star CasaSur Palermo.
Once there, he reportedly called the two sex workers.
Payne left behind a son, Bear, shared with singer Cheryl Cole. His family are still waiting for a full inquest, following a pre-inquest hearing on May 7.
Senior coroner for Buckinghamshire, Crispin Butler, said there had been no police updates since the last pre-inquest review in January last year, when he said he would wait for full reports and testimony before holding a full inquest.
"Since the last pre-inquest review, we have had no further disclosure of evidence from Argentina via the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office," Mr Butler said.
"My understanding is the investigations are continuing and I await further developments. Documentation received prior to this pre-inquest hearing have undergone a process of translation.”
The inquest was adjourned for a further pre-inquest review on December 1.
