Liam Payne's fears over haunted flat as he sets trap to catch ghosts on camera

Liam Payne has found a new hobby during lockdown - ghost hunting.

The singer, 26, said that he was woken up by a banging in the middle of the night, and now has his mind set on showing that there's something going on in his flat.

He explained on his YouTube channel: "I was in bed the other night and there was a bang.

"I tried to do the whole Ghost Adventures recording thing.

"I'm sat in my room going, 'Is anybody there? Did you just make that knock?'

"Then the wardrobe light in my room came on and the door of the wardrobe was closed, so something had to move.

"It was a freaky moment for sure."

He added that he was going to have a crack at filming a ghost to prove there's something up.

"I'm going to do a video of something, investigating, to see if I can find something because I like this stuff," he continued.

"It scares the cr*p out of me, don't get me wrong, but it's fun."

Liam's admitted he believes in ghosts before - he said that ex and mother of his son Cheryl refused to stay overnight at his LA pad because a ghost "in our top bedroom."

"I've never seen him but I knew lights were coming on at 3am," he said.

While he grapples with spirits at night, during the day he's putting his time to good use by volunteering at a nearby foodbank amid the coronavirus crisis.

The star wrote: "It was humbling to get involved at my local food bank yesterday, and to meet some of the incredibly passionate people like Carla, Dorothea and Helena who are working tirelessly during these incredibly tough times."

Liam exclusively told the Mirror about the "humbling" experience, saying: "The numbers are crazy.

"It's just disturbing to know how many people are without food in these circumstances.

"I hope enough people out there know about these food banks and can get down to them."
