Liam Payne surprises fans with new look as he supports former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson

Liam Payne fans were left surprised after the star stepped out at a red carpet event with a VERY chiselled jawline.

The former One Direction star was joined by his girlfriend influencer Kate Cassidy as he supported his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson at the premiere for his new film All Of Those Voices. Liam, 29, who shares his son Bear, five, with ex-girlfriend Cheryl, left fans doing a double-look as he sported a slimmed down look, with many reckoning he underwent a facial fat removal procedure.

After the premiere, Liam took to social media on Friday morning and praised his 'friend' and 'brother' Louis in a lengthy Instagram post, reports the Daily Record. He wrote: "What you’ve dealt with and how you held it all inside !!!"

He continued: "I’m so sorry I was so out of my mind and I didn’t do better for you, I feel ashamed in those moments to not be as good of a friend as you have been to me, at least I have time now and I’m me again so will try and make amends.

"I’m so thankful to have you in my life mate I feel so lucky and I know you know this but you were part of a small group of people that literally saved my life, you dragged me out of something so dark I’ve never shared it but your approach is something I admire and aspire to so I can one day do the same."

He added: "Thank you Louis and congratulations you deserve all these moments, every sight you get to see, every cheer that you hear and all the love you are receiving from the world."

Fans loved the tribute to his former bandmate, but the One Direction reunion wasn't the only thing people were talking about. As Liam debuted his new look, fans theorised the star had undergone the popular cosmetic surgery buccal fat removal.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Liam Payne has had a full face job , respect it." Another added: "N way Liam Payne got buccal fat removal surgery."

"Liam Payne getting buccal fat removal is sending me to the actual moon," said a third. While a fourth wrote: "Still can’t believe Liam Payne got buccal fat removal."

Buccal treatment has emerged as the latest trend for those in the media glare which sees fat pads removed from the inside of a person's cheek, resulting in a more angular face. In 2021, Liam admitted he was left looking bloated from all his wild partying and realises now his appearance became altered from the 'booze and pills'.

Liam said: "There were a few pictures of me on a boat and I was all bloated out and I call it my pills-and-booze face. My face was 10 times bigger than it is now. The problem was, the best way to secure us was to lock us in our rooms, and what is in the room? A mini-bar. So I had a party-for-one that seemed to carry on for years. It was wild but the only way you could get frustration out."

It's not the first time Liam's left fans confused in recent years. Good Morning Britain viewers were left baffled when they tuned into the show and heard Liam Payne chatting from the Oscars.

The former One Direction singer was chatting to the ITV news programme's North America correspondent Noel Phillips, who was live on the red carpet of Elton John's Oscars party. He was asked about the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock which has overshadowed the 94th Acadamy Awards and has been hitting the headlines.

But GMB viewers were distracted by Liam's major change - to his accent. @lynsey_mcgee tweeted: "Excuse me, what the hell is up with Liam Payne’s accent?? #Oscars #GMB" while @M4DELA1NE said: "Why is he Irish, Northern and American???"

Weeks later, Liam went on to explain why his accent appeared to have changed during an Instagram live. Citing alcohol and being put on the spot about the Will Smith incident, he also said that his accent changes when he’s around people from different areas.

He referenced his X Factor audition, where he says he doesn's sound like he's from where he grew up and added that his accent also changes around his Doncaster-born former One Direction bandmate Louis.
