Liam Payne has revealed how ex Cheryl snubbed him on The X Factor, long before she became his girlfriend.
Liam appeared on Capital Breakfast on Thursday morning, the day that marked 10 years since One Direction were formed at the Boot Camp stage of the ITV talent show.
Cheryl was a judge back in 2010, sitting on The X Factor panel alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue, who mentored eventual winner Matt Cardle.
But, while One Direction ended up making it all the way to the final and Cheryl and Liam went onto be a couple six years later, with son Bear arriving in 2017, the Geordie lass wasn't the kindest to Liam at his now famous audition of Cry Me A River.
On the day in question Cheryl sat alongside Simon, Louis and stand-in judge Natalie Imbruglia.
Liam, 26, revealed: "I’d practised this audition with my Dad, cos my Dad likes to think he’s a bit of a Simon Cowell which is hilarious - that whole thing was choreographed by my Dad.
"It went really well, I think I got a standing ovation from all the judges – except from Cheryl funnily enough!
“We spoke about it and there was another act earlier in the day Simon didn’t stand up for, so she didn’t stand up and I thought ‘well!’.”
While they didn't win The X Factor in 2010 they had worldwide success after the show with hits like What Makes You Beautiful, Live While We're Young and Little Things.
They split in 2016 but now fans are hoping for a One Direction reunion after a tweet went out on the lads official Twitter account for the first time in years, about the 10th anniversary.
