Liam Payne praises Harry Styles' Vogue cover and slams critics of singer's outfits

Liam Payne has praised his former band mate Harry Styles over his incredible recent Vogue magazine cover.

The 27-year-old One Direction star was chatting to Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast when they turned onto the topic of Harry's recent photoshoot.

Harry caused a stir when he made Vogue history by becoming the first male to appear solo on the cover of the US edition since it was first printed 128 years ago.

However, Harry faced some criticism for fashioning a striking grey dress with a tailored blazer during the shoot as well as other androgynous looks.

Harry later hit back at criticism by sharing a post which took a swipe at his critics, writing: "Bring back manly men."

Chatting on Capital, Liam and Roman also had nothing but praise for Harry's Vogue appearance.

Roman said: "he’s not someone to cause controversy I mean kind of looking through this year was the most talked about thing was his Vogue cover and I mean his reaction to it was perfect “we need more manly men”.

"I mean what did you make of it when you saw him on the cover of Vogue?" the presenter added.

"Oh I thought it was great, I think he’s enjoying himself and he’s free to do as he wishes and you know I just think that people don’t need to be so bothered about stuff," Liam replied.

"There’s been a lot more stuff going on this year than whether or not he’s wearing the right clothes in someone else’s mind.

"Just let him go on with it, he’s enjoying himself," his former band mate added.

It comes as One Direction fans remain hopeful that the band might eventually come together in 2021.

This year the lads celebrated ten-years since they found fame - and fans were expecting a special tour to mark the occasion.

Odds of the stars reuniting in 2021 have improved in recent months, however insiders have noted that there might still be a long way to go.

Tune into Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, weekdays from 6am – 10am across the UK.
