Liam Payne: new song 'Both Ways' condemned for 'fetishising bisexuality'

A track from Liam Payne’s debut solo album has been condemned for “fetishising bisexuality”.

“Both Ways”, which appears on Payne’s new album LP1, finds Payne singing about having group sex with his bisexual girlfriend.

“My girl, she like it both ways,” the One Direction alumni sings. “She like the way it all taste / Couple more, we’ll call it foreplay / No, no, I don’t discriminate.”

Other lyrics include the line, “Flipping that body, go head, I go tails / Sharing that body like it’s our last meal”.

Within hours of the track’s release yesterday (6 December), #LiamPayneIsOverParty began trending on Twitter, with listeners condemning Payne for his lyrics.

“The fact that Liam himself, his dumb management and producers, thought this trash song fetishising bisexual women and was okay to release is f***ing gross,” one person wrote. “Y’all stan this?”

“I’m sick and tired of people thinking my sexuality is made for threesomes,” another tweet read. “Bisexual women are NOT for your sexual fantasies, when will y’all realise that.”

Others have encouraged Payne fans to listen to Harry Styles instead, particularly after past comments were unearthed in which Payne said he would not feel comfortable with Styles babysitting his son Bear as “I feel like my child would come out dressed in something that I just wouldn't understand.”

One tweet read: “Stanning someone who sexualises bisexual culture? Could nawt be me – stan Harry and stream ‘Adore You’ on Spotify.”

LP1 has been met with poor reviews since its release yesterday, with The Independent writing that it “smells of body oil and new car upholstery”.
