Fans of Liam Payne would have been surprised to see him mingling with members of the public at Winter Wonderland over the past week.
The 28-year-old former One Direction star went to the festive theme park in London’s Hyde Park with his model fiancée Maya Henry and her mum Azteca.
The trio shunned the VIP treatment in order to line up for rides alongside fellow Winter Wonderland punters – and managed to escape being mobbed by fans.
The date night was further proof that Liam and 22-year-old Maya are going from strength to strength after previously breaking up and reconciling earlier this year.
A source spoke of their night of fun to The Sun, revealing: “Liam and Maya shunned any special treatment and had no qualms in queuing for the rollercoasters or the games like everyone else. Maya’s mum was with them, along with one of Maya’s friends, Maxim Magnus.
“No one really paid much attention to them and they could just enjoy the night as a family.”
The source added: “It’s no secret that Liam and Maya have had their struggles but they are in a really good place now.”
Liam’s low-key date night is a far cry from his One Direction heyday where he and fellow co-stars Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were unable to step outside without attracting a hoard of fans.
The singer’s solo career has arguably stalled in recent years as singles including Stack It Up and Naughty List have failed to crack the top 40.
While his relationship with Maya hit the rocks in June this year amid worrying reports of Liam displaying erratic behaviour and featuring in tearful social media videos.
The pair re-coupled three months later – and had previously been engaged in August 2020.
Last month reports revealed that Liam had parted ways with his management company in light of the fact his solo music was struggling to dazzle.
A source claimed at the time that top agency KIN had grown concerned about his party lifestyle.
The source said: “There are concerns right now for Liam because he isn’t committed to anything and is spiralling a bit. His management were at the end of their tether and said enough is enough.
"They didn’t know what else they could do to help him. It is hard for him seeing his bandmate Harry Styles having acclaim across the globe but the truth is that Liam has let himself go and is feeling lost.
"Everyone wants to see him succeed but he’s not in a good place right now."
