Liam Neeson will star as a businessman who finds himself caught up in a criminal conspiracy in the suspense thriller The Commuter, reports Deadline.
The new film continues the Ballymena-born actor’s run in starring roles following the box-office success of the action trilogy, Taken, which has grossed more than $900m worldwide. The Commuter, which will shoot in New York next spring, is being set up by the same team of producers who oversaw Neeson’s recent thrillers Non-Stop and Unknown.
No director or supporting cast details have yet emerged for the film, which is being set up at Studiocanal and The Picture Company. The plot will see Neeson’s character fearing for his life and the lives of those he cares about after trouble on his daily journey home.
The actor will next be seen on the big screen in Martin Scorsese’s Silence, as a Portuguese Jesuit priest facing persecution in 17th-century Japan. He will also star as the American war hero General Douglas MacArthur in the South Korean epic Operation Chromite, and as the lead beastie in Juan Antonio Bayona’s fantasy drama A Monster Calls. All are due in cinemas next year.
