Liam Livingstone outlines England Test goal after Shane Warne and Kevin Pietersen praise

Liam Livingstone has said he would "love to play Test cricket one day", after establishing himself as a regular in England 's limited overs side.

Livingstone enjoyed a remarkable summer in white-ball cricket for England, Lancashire and Birmingham Phoenix.

In T20Is, Livingstone smashed 190 runs at an average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 182.69 for England this year, including a century in England's 31-run defeat to Pakistan back in July.

Livingstone reached his hundred off just 42 balls, making it the faster T20 century ever by an England international.

He also scored 279 runs at an average of 55.80 for Lancashire in the T20 Blast and he was the leading run scorer in The Hundred, scoring 348 at an average of 58.00.

His form in white-ball cricket prompted the likes of Shane Warne and Kevin Pietersen to call for Livingstone to make his Test debut in the recent series against India.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Warne said: "He averages 40 in first-class cricket, he's in unbelievable touch, playing on a flat wicket at The Oval, I just think it might be time that he comes in and [England] play 'The Beast'!"

Pietersen, meanwhile, wrote for Betway: "Livingstone should come in at five or six.. He can put the pressure back on the bowlers.

"If he can face the bowlers that he’s faced in franchise cricket around the world and go well, then there’s no reason why he can’t slightly alter his mindset and adapt to Test cricket.

"He’s the hottest ticket in town at the moment after his awesome performances in The Hundred."

Now, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Livingstone has said he is "not giving up" on the dream of playing Test cricket and that it was "nice" to hear two of his "heroes" calling for him to be given a chance.

"It's something I'm not giving up on and hopefully I can get time to work on it," Livingstone said.

"It was nice to hear people like Shane Warne and Kevin Pietersen saying this summer I could play Test cricket because they were two of my heroes.

"Test cricket is still the pinnacle of our sport and it's what everybody dreams of playing growing up. I would love to play Test cricket one day."
