Hellas Verona midfielder Liam Henderson insists he will target a call-up for Italy if Scotland continue to ignore him.
The former Celtic and Hibs midfielder has been capped by his country up until U21 level but is yet to make a senior breakthrough.
Firstly with Bari and then with Hellas Verona, Henderson became the first Scot to play in Serie A since Rangers legend Graeme Souness in the 1980s.
And the 23-year-old admits he would apply for Italian citizenship and look to break into their side if Steve Clarke continues to leave him out.
Henderson has only been in Italy for 18 months so still has another few years left before he could be considered, but it hasn't stopped him planning for the future on the international stage.
He does, however, insist that Scotland is his main focus but revealed he's never even had any hint that Clarke or Scotland coaches are interested in seeing him play - with nobody even taking a flight to Italy to watch him play.
He said: "Of course I want to play for my country, it's massive for me.
“But I've not had any indication, maybe they don't want to get the flight to Italy to watch, even though it's only two hours.
"I think it's because I'm playing in Italy, I don't know.
"If I stay here for five or six years, maybe I can apply for Italian citizenship and play for Italy.
“If Scotland don't want to take me then, why not?”
Henderson has made just five appearances for Verona this season, with the last of those coming in November against Inter Milan.
He hasn't started a match since a 1-0 win over Lecce in September.
