Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks have announced their engagement after almost six years of keeping their relationship mostly out of the spotlight.
The 35-year-old actor and the model, 29, shared the news on Friday, when Brooks posted a series of photos to Instagram, including a close-up of her square-cut diamond bezel ring.
One black-and-white picture showed Gabriella arms wrapped around Liam’’s chest, showing off the diamond on her left hand.
Brooks captioned the post with a single white heart emoji, and friends and fans quickly filled the comments with congratulations.
British swimmer Ross Edgley penned: “YESSSS!! ENGAGEMENT GAINZ! MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THE BIG RIG”.
“Love you guys. Congratulations,” presenter and model Lisa Snowden commented.
make-up artist and pal Molly Warkentin shared: “Congratulations Gabby, this is major!!! I remember the first time you talked about Liam and now look at the 2 of you! So happy for you”.
Model Gabriella, who has fronted campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein and Topshop, reportedly met Liam in late 2019, shortly after he returned to Australia following his split from Miley Cyrus.
The couple’s low-key announcement reflects the private approach they’ve taken to their romance, with Gabrielle previously saying how she wanted it to remain “sacred” to them.
“My personal relationship is very, very important and very sacred to me,” Brooks told Australia’s Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine in 2021.
“And I feel like in an industry where so much is put out on show, there are some things you just want to keep to yourself. I completely understand [the interest in our relationship]. But at the end of the day, I guess I just like having that for me.”
Last year, a source claimed that Liam and Gabriella had “no plans on getting married anytime soon,” noting the actor’s caution after his first marriage to Miley, 32.
“They have no plans on getting married anytime soon – and perhaps, not at all,” a source told Us Weekly. “Liam didn’t have a good experience the first time around. And it’s not something he thinks of in a positive light.”
Liam and Miley met while filming the 2010 romantic drama The Last Song and wed in December 2018.
However they split eight months later, finalising their divorce in January 2020.
The Grammy winner has also moved on and has been dating Liily drummer Maxx Morando since 2021.
