Liam Gallagher sends Leeds United fans wild with three-word message ahead of Manchester United

Liam Gallagher has given his backing to Leeds United ahead of their game against Manchester United.

The Whites face their fierce rivals in the Premier League for the first time in almost 17 years at Old Trafford this afternoon in what is set to be an engrossing encounter.

Whilst some have tipped Man United for an unlikely title challenge in what is proving to be an unpredictable Premier League season, Marcelo Bielsa's style of football with Leeds has won plenty of admirers.

Oasis star Gallagher is famously a Man City fan and is backing Bielsa's side this afternoon according to his three-word tweet.

He tweeted: "LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS", showing where his allegiances this afternoon lie.

It was a tweet that, rather unsurprisingly, sent Leeds fans wild.

One fan said: "Yes Liam! We're gonna beat Man United!"

Another fan said: "Go on Liam!"

A third replied: "Always knew I liked you, Liam."

It is not the first time the rock star has shown his love for the Whites, despite being a Man City fan.

Last season saw Leeds and Liverpool lifting their respective titles on the same day, and Gallagher left fans in no doubt which he preferred.

"Did you enjoy the trophy lift last night?" Asked a Liverpool fan in reference to the fact his side had beaten Man City to the title.

"The Leeds one was magnificent," Gallagher replied succinctly.

Whilst one Gallagher is very much pro-Leeds, Liam's brother Noel has caused more of a stir in the city.

When playing the First Direct Arena in 2018, Noel risked the wrath of his audience by calling the Whites 'sh***y'.

It prompted boos and chants of 'Yorkshire, Yorkshire' and 'Liam, Liam'.
