Liam Gallagher’s son and Ringo Starr’s grandson have been handed a 2021 court date after allegedly sparking a late-night fight in a branch of Tesco Express in Hampstead, north London.
Gene Gallagher, Sonny Starkey and their model friend Noah Ponte pleaded not guilty to charges of affray and using or threatening unlawful violence. Mr Ponte was also charged with racially aggravated common assault.
The trio appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on 9 March, when they were told their trial was to begin on 18 January, 2021.
Prosecutor Alexander Agbamu said: “We’re looking at a trial of between seven and eight days, all defendants being on bail.”
Highbury Corner Magistrates Court heard last November that when a shopkeeper tried to stop them leaving the store, both Mr Gallagher and Mr Starkey were described as “windmilling” down the aisle.
Mr Ponte is also alleged to have racially abused Tesco worker Shium Patel. “You bloody Indians. Go back to where you came from. You’re not wanted here,” he allegedly told the employee.
The altercation was said to have begun after Mr Ponte was prevented from buying a can of beer after the store’s 11pm cut-off for alcohol purchasing.
