Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green fashion brand goes into administration

Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green chain of shops has fallen into administration.

The fashion retailer, which has a concession in House of Fraser in Cabot Circus, says it is now hoping to find a buyer to take over the loss-making business.

Advisory firm Moorfields - the same administrators which managed the Toys R Us collapse - were appointed last month to review options for the retailer.

Simon Thomas, a partner at Moorfields, says there is a “large amount of interest” in Pretty Green.

"We continue to work closely with Pretty Green’s management and its advisers," he said.

“Following a period of marketing the brand attracted a large amount of interest, so we remain hopeful a deal can be done.

“The brand has a strong following and it is unfortunate that similar to many other retailers who rely on concessions they have suffered as a consequence of larger department store insolvencies.”

Pretty Green was founded by the former Oasis frontman in 2009 and employs around 170 people across the UK.

But the chain came under pressure when House of Fraser fell into administration in August 2018 while owing Pretty Green £500,000.

House of Fraser was later bought up by billionaire retail tycoon and Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley for £90million.

It is not yet known what will happen to the Pretty Green concession in Cabot Circus.
