Liam Gallagher's clothing brand Pretty Green calls in administrators

Pretty Green, Liam Gallagher 's clothing brand, has called in administrators.

Simon Thomas and Nicholas O'Reilly, partners in Moorfields Advisory Limited, were appointed joint administrators of Pretty Green Limited and Pretty Green Group Limited yesterday (March 28), according to a notice in its Manchester shop.

It said "all stores and concessions will continue will continue trading until further notice".

Pretty Green, which was founded by the Oasis singer in 2009, has reportedly attracted the interest of several prospective buyers who are mulling bids to take over the retailer.

The clothing brand, which has Gallagher as its largest shareholder, has 12 stores across the UK and is sold at concessions in several House of Fraser department stores, as well as online.

Moorfields were called into to review the company's options months after it took a £500,000 hit from the collapse of department store House of Fraser.

Earlier this month Moorfields said in a statement that Pretty Green had also been affected by the weaker retail environment.

"Pretty Green is not immune to the challenges facing the UK high street as customers migrate from purchasing in store to online," a spokeswoman said.

"The growing overall demand for the brand, coupled with a strong online customer base, position the company well to navigate these changes and we are therefore considering all options."

Pretty Green, which is named after a song by The Jam, recorded a turnover of £38.2m in the 16 months to January 2018 with pre-tax losses narrowed to £1.5m from a £5.6m loss.

Moorfields Advisory have been approached for comment.
