Liam Gallagher responds to Everton new stadium performance request

Former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher has opened the door to performing at the new Everton stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Government officials confirmed they had passed up the opportunity to call-in planning permission for the build on Friday with Everton set to proceed on their plans at the north Liverpool site.

The new stadium will bring additional commercial benefits for the club with gigs expected to be part of the appeal.

And Everton supporter Ben asked Gallagher on Twitter: "You gonna do a gig at the new Everton stadium Rkid?"

The 48-year-old replied: "Why not."

Before Everton begin construction on the 52,888 ground - expected to take around three years to build - the club still have to finalise a number of areas relating to the project.

Funding, confirming a contractor and finalising a £22.5m deal for the land with Peel - already agreed in principle - will follow.
