Liam Gallagher promises to skip parties - and promptly parties until 10am

He claimed he had turned over a new leaf, ditching his rock ’n’ roll antics for a more wholesome lifestyle.

On this week’s episode of Later... with Jools Holland, you can witness singer Liam Gallagher insisting he is attempting to “look after myself a little bit”, and explaining how he’ll be skipping parties to “scarper back to my hotel and keep my head down” on his new tour.

Unfortunately, the wine started flowing in Liam’s Later... dressing room, and with the excitement of son Gene playing drums alongside him for the first time, he ended up partying until 10am.

The roads to hangovers are so often paved with good intentions.

The Oasis star, 47, also tells Jools Holland about his hero John Lennon, who “seems to be always there whenever I’m in my hour of need” – but admits a signed record he owns, inscribed “To Liam, from John. Good work” is a fake.

“John Lennon was dead and I forged it anyway,” he confesses.

Later... with Jools Holland is on BBC2 at 10pm on Thursday, with an extended episode on Friday at 11.05pm.
